The Flag Day 2018 Celebration on East Dublin Granville Road will include a Family Fun Celebration June 14 from 5-8pm. The YMCA North Branch will host family games in the parking lot at the Columbus Square Shopping Center near Fifth Third Bank, and the Northland High School Viking Marching Band agreed to provide entertainment. The festival will also feature Jeff and Lorna Duffield’s Calliope Music Company.
Our newest US Citizens will be welcomed in a special event as part of the theme, which is celebrating the diversity of our New American businesses in the 161 Corridor.
The Flag Day Celebration will display 500 United States flags on four-foot poles in the many landscape boxes along Dublin-Granville Road. Businesses are invited to participate, and the business with the best flag display will receive a $250 gift card!
Businesses are encouraged to sponsor the Flag Day efforts by purchasing flags at $30 each and/or passing out free samples of food at the Family Fun Celebration event in the evening.
Each year we honor our volunteers and civic leaders at an evening dinner banquet.
Each year, the Northland Community Council works with it’s members to identify individuals from throughout Northland who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to their neighbors and neighborhoods through dedication, sacrifice, and outstanding community service. These local heroes and their contributions to the community are recognized at the Northland Community Awards Banquet by the NCC and representatives from the City of Columbus and the State of Ohio. In recent years, awards have also been presented to outstanding Northland civic organizations. Attire for the evening is formal, and advanced tickets are required. This unique civic tradition is the only event of its kind in the city of Columbus.
The 2018 event was a huge success! The Little Turtle Golf Course Country Club hosted the banquet.
The NCC oversees the only July 4 Parade in the City of Columbus!
